Abstract: The advent of financial technology (fintech) advances has caused a rapid transformation of the financial industry, causing major disruptions to the traditional banking and finance sectors. In an effort to shed light on how the financial industry is changing, this thesis examines the patterns and ramifications of fintech innovation and disruption. The first section of the paper is a thorough examination of the literature that describes the development of fintech as well as the theoretical underpinnings of disruption and innovation. Through case studies of profitable fintech businesses, it investigates current developments in fintech innovation, such as robo-advisors, blockchain technology, and digital payments.
