Assessment of these assignments are vital for instructors to evaluate student progress and provide valuable feedback. While manual assessment is effective, it is tedious and time-consuming, leading to an increased demand for Automated Assessment Tools. Integrating automated code assessment tools in programming courses stands out as a transformative approach, significantly enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the assessment process. Through a meticulous evaluation, this study explores the leading open-source automated code assessment tools, their assessment methods, and feedback mechanisms. Moreover, this paper briefly discusses the important strengths and limitations of these tools.
