In this study, by comparing and analyzing the values of love between Spanish playwrights Lope and Tirso in the 17th century, focusing on the representative plays of these two playwrights, La Estrella de Sevilla and Marta la piadosa, we would like to examine in detail the similarities and differences between these two playwrights in relation to love between men and women. These two playpieces have similarities in that the heroine loves the man who murdered her brother and forms a love triangle, but in La Estrella de Sevilla, Lope seeks perfect love, while in Marta la piadosa, Tirso seeks absolute love. This is because Lope faithfully reflected the baroque tendency that values how love looks on the outside in La Estrella de Sevilla, while Tirso reflected somewhat innovative and Christian love in Marta la piadosa.
