Much has changed in higher education, especially since the pandemic, but some things about the student affairs profession remain the same, according to Karl Brooks, Ed.D., Vice President for Student Affairs at Oakton College, a two‐year community college in Illinois. “At the core, our work centers around supporting students and their development, providing timely services, and helping them develop their learning experiences,” said Brooks, who has worked in student affairs for 33 years. “We continue to celebrate an inclusive environment where all can feel connected and pursue their aspirations and goals, as we help them to meet those aspirations and goals,” he added.
