This is a short commentary on the relevance of Jair Bolsonaro for the critical theorizing of the political. It considers the resurfacing of fascism in the past decade or as the manifestation of a political form which is consistent with the mode of thinking that nourishes the liberal political architecture. It does so by discussing key philosophical, critical, and anticolonial formulations which indicate as present the elements that allow for the kind of binding of the State with its citizens that supports fascism, both in the past and in the present.
