1069 Metastasis of ovarian cancer to the breast: a case report and review of the literature

Introduction/Background Ovarian cancer often presented as widespread disease, however being metastatic to breast and/or axillary lymph node is a rare event. Its early recognition and distinction from primary breast cancer are very important to adopt the right therapeutic strategy. Methodology The case report was reported through the patient's questioning, her physical examination, her clinical file and the results of the explorations she underwent. Results A 57-year-old woman, who was diagnosed with a stage IV ovarian cancer metastatic to pleura. She underwent first line chemotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin, but the evolution was marked by metastatic progression at the breast and axillary lymph node, confirmed histologically, she is proposed for second line chemotherapy. Conclusion Despite its rarity, Screening with physical examination and serial mammography for patients with ovarian cancer is recommended, in order to detect any breast metastasis at an early stage for proper management of the disease.
