The results of a study on the effect of changes in the direction of deformation on the formation of dimensions and hardness during cold rolling of sheets with a thickness of about 1.50 mm from workpieces with sizes of 2.9×39×39 mm of aluminum alloy A5m on a 150×235 mill in the laboratory of the Department of OMD and AT of «Moscow polytechnic university» are presented. It is shown that after rolling with a turn, the linear dimensions and the shape of a sheet are aligned. It has been experimentally established that the turning of sheets during rolling makes it possible to reduce the amount of longitudinal thickness difference and to even out the width difference of the sheets. The results of measurements and calculations showed that the direction of deformation during the rolling turn had a positive effect on the distribution of hardness, one of the indicators of mechanical properties along the length and width of sheets. When rolling a sheet with a turn, a more uniform distribution of surface hardness occurs due to additional distortion of the crystal lattice. The conducted studies had made it possible to develop science-based recommendations for cold rolling with alternating longitudinal and transverse passes of aluminum sheets (A5) in industrial mills to improve the quality of rolled sheet products.
