This paper examines historical factors that have shaped governance challenges in Senegal over a decade. Historical analysis of governmental records, legal documents, and scholarly literature is employed to trace the roots of current governance challenges in Senegal during the specified timeframe. A notable finding is the significant influence of colonial-era administrative structures on present-day bureaucratic inefficiencies and corruption. The historical context reveals a complex interplay between colonial legacy, economic development, and political instability as primary drivers of governance challenges in Senegal. Policy recommendations include strengthening institutional reforms to address the structural issues stemming from colonial-era administrative foundations.
