This resource, developed by the Institutions Stakeholder Action Group of the Australian National Persistent Identifier (PID) Strategy, is designed to help research organisations identify their unique executive-level value propositions for adopting PIDs. It introduces the international and national context, as well as investment in PIDs such as national infrastructure and national support. It also outlines typical drivers or scenarios for organisations that are adopting persistent identifier action. Scenarios include tangible benefits such as increasing information integrity and trust, enhancing our ability to track research investements and impact, reducing administration burden, and improving research efficiency. It is complemented by two other resources, the PIDs Capability & Maturity Model which provides a more systemic organisational overview, and the PIDs Implementation Guide which includes “recipes” that collate advice and recommendations for implementation areas.
