Today, the results of research studies are considered in the form of research and review articles, which serve to educate readers. It is imperative to document the research conducted in this domain. Additionally, the publication of articles plays a crucial role in advancing scientific knowledge.1 The foundation of any good research lies in formulating a hypothesis, followed by methodical study implementation and data collection. It should be noted that compliance with ethical principles is mandatory in maintaining this process.2 Therefore, this process entails significant responsibilities. Authors must diligently uphold ethical publication standards and avoid scientific misconduct. Thus, setting good publication practices as a guiding framework is essential.3 Regrettably, in the process of scientific publications, unethical practices have been seen, and this article tries to discuss the validity and objectivity of publication in scientific research. Composing a research paper entails navigating a challenging process. Journals serve as platforms for disseminating comprehensive research, aiming to enrich readers’ knowledge and awareness while advancing the frontier of science. Therefore, lacking a robust structure and cohesive organization, or those presenting fragmented accounts of prior research findings, face rejection from publication.4 It is imperative to highlight that breaches of ethical standards, such as duplicate publication or plagiarism, warrant immediate rejection of the submitted article. Unfortunately, instances of research misconduct persist due to various factors. Among these, the emphasis on publication metrics for researchers’ career advancement stands out. This pressure can lead to practices such as splitting a single study into multiple articles or even publishing the same research in different languages but with identical content. Addressing these issues requires a fundamental shift in the evaluation criteria for researchers, placing a stronger emphasis on ethical conduct.5 By aligning the criteria for academic recognition and advancement with publication ethics, many instances of research misconduct can be preempted. Updating and harmonizing regulations with international standards is pivotal in this endeavor. Consequently, fostering a culture of ethical research necessitates comprehensive awareness and management of ethical challenges within the academic community. It is advisable to conduct further studies aimed at better identifying the key factors influencing publication ethics. This will contribute to enhancing the integrity of scientific research, thereby fostering responsible development within the university community. Consequently, it is essential to emphasize the importance of supporting scientific tools designed to detect research misconduct, as such efforts are both beneficial and valuable.6 To address the current ethical challenges in research, there is a need to raise awareness among research groups regarding ethical conduct. One effective approach could involve facilitating open discussions among all authors involved in research endeavors, with the aim of establishing protocols grounded in multidisciplinary research principles. This collaborative effort can significantly contribute to improving ethical standards within the research community.7 Moreover, it is imperative for the research community to devise effective solutions for addressing ethical issues within research institutions. Special attention must be paid to systemic injustices prevalent in academic careers, as these factors can significantly contribute to the propagation of research misconduct. By prioritizing these concerns, the research community can work toward fostering a culture of integrity and accountability within academic and scientific circles.
