Methodological Assessment of District Hospitals Systems in South Africa: A Panel Data Analysis on Clinical Outcomes,

This study focuses on evaluating the operational systems of district hospitals in South Africa, with a particular emphasis on clinical outcomes over a four-year period. A fixed-effects model will be applied to analyse the impact of various factors on patient outcomes, ensuring that individual-level variations are accounted for within each district over time. The analysis revealed a significant proportion (35%) of patients experienced adverse drug reactions, which is a notable theme in clinical practice. Despite challenges identified, the study provides insights into how system improvements can enhance patient care and reduce adverse events. Implementing standardised protocols for medication administration and regular training sessions for healthcare providers are recommended to mitigate adverse outcomes. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
