The design and optimization of hyper-mist fire extinguishing systems rely heavily on understanding the thermal behavior of confined spaces. This research investigates heat propagation from hot spots inside a standard container (2.6 m × 2.6 m) aboard ships using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. A two-dimensional numerical analysis was performed to simulate heat spreading from heat sources of 0.5 m dimensions at temperatures ranging from 200 °C to 450 °C. The study analyses temperature contours and airflow patterns developed during the heat-spreading process. The results will provide critical insights for sensor placement and nozzle mounting to achieve optimal hyper-mist performance. This work contributes to the development of improved fire safety designs and paves the way for more efficient thermal management in maritime containers.
