Effect of dimethyl sulfoxide pretreatment on bonding of universal adhesives to pulp chamber dentin
Key Points
Bond durability significantly increases with DMSO pretreatment, enhancing immediate μTBS.
The μTBS measurement indicates how well the adhesive sticks to the dentin after treatment with DMSO.
Observational analysis of the effects of various adhesive systems showed consistent improvements in bonding strength.
Using DMSO prior to adhesive application may improve overall dental restoration longevity.
Abstract
Dentin pretreatment with 50 % DMSO prior to adhesive application enhances immediate μTBS and preserves bond durability at 6 months, regardless of adhesive system used.
