The present study examined the impact of dark triad DT traits on employee health and well-being through two distinct mechanisms: attitude as a moderator and intention as a mediator. A total of 700 IT employees completed validated measures of the DT traits, green attitude and intention, and health and well-being. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS v.26 software and PROCESS macro for SPSS v.26 for testing hypotheses. Results revealed that green intention significantly influenced the indirect effects of narcissism and psychopathy on employee health and well-being. Higher narcissism predicted stronger pro-environmental intentions, leading to better outcomes, while higher Machiavellianism or psychopathy predicted weaker green intentions, which in turn led to worse outcomes. Green attitude also altered the relationships between DT traits and green intentions, with more positive attitudes enhancing the positive link between narcissism and green intention and weakening the negative link between Machiavellianism or psychopathy and green intentions. Green attitude strengthened the indirect effects of narcissism on employee health and well-being via green intention, while green attitude did not moderate the indirect effects of Machiavellianism or psychopathy on them. These findings suggest that both green attitude and intentions play important roles in how these antagonistic personality traits affect employee health and well-being within organizations. Implications and future directions are discussed in this study.
