The article explores the role of home reading classes in shaping the values, views, and attitudes of young people learning a foreign language. The author examines Russian pedagogical works and laws to identify key value orientations for the youth and proposes a set of books that are most likely to fulfill the needs among students. The selected literature supports personal development, highlights the importance of intergenerational connections and reflects social, spiritual and moral values. The author also states that these books contribute to language competence and align with the standards of Russian education.
