Site 40CK192 represents a precontact occupation that is situated on an approximately 3 meter-high Pleistocene alluvial fan overlooking the lower floodplain of the Pigeon River in Cocke County, Tennessee. Fifteen samples were submitted: eight ceramic fragments for a suite of optical analyses (pollen, phytolith, and starch); six bifacial tools for protein residue analysis; and one sediment sample for pollen and starch analyses.
