( Anesth Analg . 2025;141:456-463. doi: 10.1213/ANE.0000000000007192) Mothers in Africa face a maternal mortality risk after cesarean delivery (CD) that is 50 times higher than in high-income countries, with hemorrhage as the leading cause. Despite available guidelines, many African hospitals lack the resources to prevent and manage postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). This study conducted a cross-sectional survey among anesthesiologists and obstetricians within the African Perioperative Research Group (APORG) network to evaluate hospitals’ readiness to implement World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for PPH prevention and treatment during and after CD. Secondary objectives examined the availability of blood products, trained personnel, and postoperative care systems.
