Female craftworkers in Dar-es-Salaam, Kenya face significant challenges in accessing economic opportunities and empowerment. A comparative study design was employed with data collected from focus group discussions (FGDs) and surveys among female artisans across different urban centers in Dar-es-Salaam. Female artisans reported a significant preference for microfinance schemes over other support initiatives, indicating their perceived effectiveness in overcoming financial barriers. The study underscores the importance of tailored economic empowerment strategies that address specific needs and challenges faced by female craftworkers in urban settings. Policy makers should prioritise interventions that align with the identified preferences of female artisans for microfinance schemes to promote sustainable economic growth.
