Health Systems Resilience in Epidemic Response across Africa: Comparative Insights from Egypt

The resilience of health systems in responding to epidemics is a critical aspect of public health strategy in Africa. Egypt serves as a case study for understanding how such systems operate and adapt during outbreaks. The study employs a qualitative approach, analysing policy documents, interviews with healthcare professionals, and secondary data sources to assess the effectiveness of health systems during the specified period. Egypt demonstrated notable resilience in its initial response to the polio outbreak, particularly in mobilizing resources and coordinating national efforts. However, challenges persisted in sustaining long-term reforms and ensuring equitable access to healthcare across regions. This study provides valuable insights into the nuanced dynamics of health system responses in Africa, highlighting both successes and ongoing issues that inform broader public health strategies. The findings suggest a need for sustained investment in infrastructure and human resources, alongside continuous evaluation and adaptation to ensure effective epidemic preparedness and response capabilities.
