The Language Archive Cologne (LAC) is a research data repository for audiovisual data in the field of linguistics and related disciplines. It provides long-term preservation and access to research data, ensuring that valuable linguistic resources are available for future generations.Audiovisual data are essential for representing embodied situated human communication, which includes not only speech but also gestures, facial expressions, and other non-verbal cues. These data are crucial for understanding the full range of human communication and for advancing research in linguistics, psychology, anthropology, and related fields. Audiovisual speech data consitute not only research data, but also intangible cultural heritage and as such are valuable resources for many communities. The LAC is committed to providing access to these data while respecting the rights and privacy of the individuals and communities involved.
