Psychometric Properties of the Commitment to Exercise Scale in Inpatients With Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa
Key Points
To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Commitment to Exercise Scale in individuals with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.
Assessment of the Commitment to Exercise Scale among inpatients with eating disorders
Comparison of the CES with longer instruments
Evaluation of reliability and validity metrics
The CES showed sound psychometric properties in measuring compulsive exercise
Participants with anorexia nervosa validated the CES as a brief assessment tool
The CES may be preferred over lengthier instruments for clinical use.
Abstract
The CES has sound psychometric properties in persons with AN and BN. Given its brevity, it may be favoured over lengthier instruments for assessing compulsive exercise in research and clinical practice.
