Nutrition Intervention's Impact on Academic Performance in Southern Ethiopian Schools: A Quantitative Analysis

Southern Ethiopia has experienced significant nutritional deficiencies among school age children, affecting their educational outcomes. This study utilised a mixed-methods approach including pre- and post-intervention assessments with standardised test scores and qualitative interviews with teachers and parents. The analysis revealed that a targeted nutrition programme significantly improved students' average math and reading scores by 15% after one academic year, particularly among girls in rural schools. Nutrition interventions play a crucial role in enhancing educational performance; however, tailored programmes with community engagement are essential for sustainable impact. Schools should integrate nutrition education into curricula and collaborate with local health authorities to ensure long-term benefits.
