ABSTRACT Red, occasionally pinkish red to rarely pinkish white flowered epiphytic shrub Agapetes wardii W.W. Sm. is reported as a new addition to the Flora of India from Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh. Although similar to the species Agapetes hosseana Diels , Agapetes mannii Hemsl. and Agapetes buxifolia Nutt. ex Hook.f., it differs from the former two in possessing elliptic to lanceolate leaves with acute to acuminate apex, and ecalcarate to occasionally calcarate spurred anthers. Agapetes wardii differs from Agapetes buxifolia by its filiform filaments that is 1.2–1.5 times larger than the anthers and by its entire leaf lamina. The species is cited with the studied taxonomic literature. A detailed description along with habitat notes, and specimens examined, is provided for the first time from India.
