Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was initially associated with higher mortality than other respiratory viruses. We assessed trends in mortality following a positive COVID-19 test within a single academic health system. Among individuals with COVID-19, 30-day crude and adjusted mortality rates have decreased but remain similar to numerically higher than influenza.
