Community health worker (CHW) programmes have been implemented to address HIV/AIDS prevention in East African cities, particularly in Morocco. A comprehensive review of existing literature on CHW programmes and HIV/AIDS prevention strategies was conducted, focusing on qualitative data from Moroccan cities. The theoretical framework elucidates the critical roles of CHWs in enhancing HIV/AIDS prevention efforts, particularly in underserved urban populations. Further research should focus on replicating successful models across diverse urban settings and exploring long-term sustainability strategies for CHW programmes.
