Religious Pluralism and Inter-Faith Dynamics in West African Societies: A Comparative Exploration

Religious diversity is a significant feature of West African societies, characterized by complex inter-faith dynamics. This study aims to explore these dynamics in Morocco and other selected countries within the region. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, including qualitative interviews, quantitative surveys, and secondary data analysis from existing studies. Focus groups and expert consultations will also be utilised to gather comprehensive insights. Findings indicate that while Morocco displays a relatively stable inter-faith environment with significant minority religious communities contributing positively to social cohesion, other countries exhibit varying degrees of tension and integration challenges. This study underscores the importance of inclusive policies and community engagement in fostering harmonious coexistence among diverse faiths within West African societies. Recommendations include promoting interfaith dialogue initiatives, supporting minority religious communities, and encouraging educational programmes that foster mutual respect and understanding.
