In order to reduce human-caused CO₂ emissions, the private heating sector must be transformed, shifting from fossil energy sources to more environmentally friendly alternatives. To gain insights into the specific and individual situations of homeowners, a semi-structured interview study was conducted in 2025. The goal of this study is to explore in detail the current heating systems of homeowners, how they perceive these systems, as well as their perceptions of certain heating systems, and the potential reasons and barriers for changing their system.
