Perceived social support refers to the perception of individuals being cared for valued and supported by others, while fear of negative evaluation is fear of being judged by others. Young adulthood is a developmental period marked by social interactions and evaluative concerns. The main objective of the study is to identify the relationship between perceived social support and fear of negative evaluation among young adults. The samples of the study were 170 young adults aged between 18 – 26 years were chosen through a simple random sampling technique. The tools used in the study were by Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MPSS) developed by Zimet et.al., (1988) and The Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE) by Leary in 1983. The data were collected through survey method. The Findings of the study shows that there is a positive correlation (r= 0.38) between perceived social support and fear of negative evaluation. The study highlights the importance of strengthening social support systems and implementing psychological interventions to help young adults manage negative evaluative fears and enhance emotional resilience.
