In this study, we evaluated the aperture array for lens array to improve the depth information acquisition performance in Integral Videography(IV) based optical systems. By using IV based optical systems, we can acquire the depth information of the target. When the target has the large depth, the IV based optical system will be required to have high specification of the depth information acquisition. Thus, we propose a method using aperture array for lens array to improve the depth information acquisition performance of the IV optical systems based that the depth of focus of optical systems can be expanded by apertures. In this paper, we prototyped two aperture arrays and evaluated the feasibility of the proposed method. As the experiment, we acquired the IV element image for IV imaging by an IV optical system with the aperture arrays and evaluated the IV images acquired by the IV optical system compared to the images acquired by the IV optical system without aperture array. The diameter of each aperture of the aperture arrays were 0.5 mm and 0.3 mm, respectively. By placing these aperture arrays, we can adjust the F-number of the each lens of the lens array, whose F-number is F3, to be F6 and F10, respectively. We evaluated the depth information acquired by the optical system by measuring the depth of the displayed IV image. As a result, the acquired depth information become deeper by adjusting the F-number from F3 to F6 or F10 using aperture arrays. This result shows that it will be possible to improve the depth information acquisition performance using aperture arrays.
