Menstruation, commonly referred to as a “period,” is a natural biological process experienced by millions of people around the world every month. The onset of menstruation marks an important stage in the lives of adolescents, bringing both physical and emotional changes. Many menstruating individuals experience symptoms such as cramps, lower back pain, fatigue, and general discomfort during their menstrual cycle. Majority of adolescent school girls had poor knowledge regarding menstruation and their hygienic practices are incorrect. Schools can play a transformative role by introducing age-appropriate, factual education on menstruation that emphasizes biological processes and health, rather than superstition.
