Human resource training is increasingly recognized as a strategic tool for improving organizational performance, particularly in knowledge-intensive service industries. This study examined the influence of human resource training on the operational performance of a professional service firm in Kenya. The research is anchored on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and supported by the VRIO framework, both of which place considerable emphasis on the importance of organizational and human resources in creating a competitive advantage for an organization as compared to others in the same industry or market segment. A descriptive research design was adopted and data were collected using structured questionnaires administered to employees of the organization (Adejumo et al., 2025). The data gathered were examined through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression techniques. The analysis revealed that human resource training exerts a significant and positive impact on operational performance (β = 0.985, p < 0.001). These findings imply that organizations that prioritize employee development can boost staff skills, increase efficiency, and more effectively execute their strategic initiatives. The study confirms existing literature that highlights training as a key driver of organizational effectiveness and sustainable competitive advantage. The research recommends that organizations institutionalize structured employee training programs and continuous professional development initiatives to improve operational performance.
