Purpose The purpose of this paper is to evaluate how work engagement mediates the relationship between workplace spirituality and employee creativity and to examine how organizational justice moderates this relationship between workplace spirituality on work engagement. The study further investigates whether organizational justice moderates the indirect effect of workplace spirituality on employee creativity through work engagement. Design/methodology/approach This research used a hypothesized model that was examined among 426 people employed in the information technology (IT) industry in India. A moderated mediation analysis was applied to explore and delineate the proposed relationships among variables. Findings The findings indicate that work engagement mediates the relationship between workplace spirituality and employee creativity. In addition, the study demonstrates that organizational justice moderates the effect of workplace spirituality on work engagement. The findings also validate the moderating effect of organizational justice on the indirect impact of workplace spirituality on creativity through work engagement. Originality/value To date, no previous study has evaluated the impact of organizational justice moderated mediation of workplace spirituality on employee creativity through work engagement among Indian IT employees.
