Does familial hypercholesterolemia increase the risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight, or congenital malformations in pregnant women compared to the general population?
Familial hypercholesterolemia does not appear to increase the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preterm delivery, low birth weight, or congenital malformations.
Women with FH do not appear to have a higher risk of preterm delivery or of having infants with low birth weight or congenital malformations than women in general, but, although this is unlikely, some undetected bias may obscure the real differences.
