The study presents an analysis of the spatiotemporal distribution of radar characteristics and parameters for the thunderstorm activity of mesoscale cloud clusters on August 4–5, 2016 in the area of the North Caucasus coast. It is shown that DMRL radars and LS 8000/7002 lightning sensors can be used for detecting mesoscale vortices. Data on variations in different types of lightning, polarity, and current characteristics are interpreted in terms of the diagnostic and prognostic potential for detecting mesoscale vortices.
