The article discusses the problem of shock-vortex interaction and suggests one of its variants as a test problem for conducting a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of shock-capturing methods. Various aspects of the problem are considered, including: the dependence of the flow structure on the basic parameters; a review of existing studies of the problem and their critical analysis; the choice of a problem formulation with a stable flow structure; a technique for obtaining a reference solution; and possible criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of computational methods.
