This paper explores the education of women in Serbia and other former Yugoslav republics, with the aim of identifying the prerequisites for achieving gender equality in logistics. Starting from the importance of education as a means of empowerment, the paper analyzes the representation of women in higher education, with a particular focus on technical and technological sciences, logistics, and related or associated fields. The research is based on data from national statistical institutions and higher education institutions. It was found that women constitute the majority of the student population in the region, as well as in the rest of Europe, but they are still most often in the minority at faculties of technical and technological orientation. However, logistics studies record a higher share of female students compared to other technical fields, and at certain faculties, women are even dominant in logistics programs. This indicates the inclusiveness and potential of the field to contribute to gender equality. The paper concludes that education in logistics can be one of the key drivers of gender equality and professional synergy.
