This paper focuses on the tracking control issue for high-order nonlinear systems with time-varying powers and input dead zones via using a prescribed performance function-dependent event-triggered control strategy. In order to enhance tracking performance, a novel event-triggered mechanism based on a prescribed performance function has been introduced, which is different from conventional event-triggered strategies. Thus, the performance indicators have been comprehensively considered. Moreover, the proposed approach guarantees that the tracking error between the system output and the desired signal converges into a user-defined region within a specified settling time. The effectuality of the designed strategy is validated through simulation examples.
