Summary For the first time in India, the elimination of vertical transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), syphilis, and HBV (Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B EVTHSH) initiative was undertaken by the state of West Bengal. This initiative prioritized an integrated approach towards screening, standardized treatment pathways, improved referral linkages, strengthening of data recording and comprehensive and unified governance mechanisms. The initiative was implemented in four districts as a pilot project. Standard operating procedure, operational framework, Information, Education, and Communication materials, training modules and integrated monitoring tools have been developed. After successful implementation of the pilot project, the Government of West Bengal has decided to scale up the EVTHSH initiative across the State.
