Key Points

  • The research aims to evaluate how eccentric strength affects deceleration performance during repeated tasks.
  • Analyzed the relationship between eccentric strength and deceleration performance.
  • Assessed performance during high-load deceleration tasks.
  • Examined the role of concentric mechanical capacities in maintaining performance.
  • Greater eccentric strength was associated with reduced decline in deceleration performance.
  • Maintaining concentric mechanical capacities also contributed to sustained deceleration performance.
  • Impairment in performance was observed during repeated deceleration tasks without adequate eccentric strength.

Abstract

Repeated deceleration actions impair early-phase deceleration performance; however, greater eccentric strength mitigates this decline. Additionally, the ability to sustain concentric mechanical capacities appears relevant to sustaining deceleration capacity. These findings highlight the importance of eccentric strength in supporting performance under repeated high-load deceleration demands.
