Project workshops to support co-production Dr. Melissa Ward Jones discusses the strengths of organizing regular project workshops to support project co-production between University of Alaska Fairbanks researchers and Alaskan farmers. Permafrost Grown, a five-year project funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, is co-producing knowledge with Alaskan farmers to better understand permafrost-agriculture interactions. Co-producing research describes “meaningful engagement between scientists and stakeholders” (Lu et al., 2022, p. 254) to produce more actionable science (Norström et al., 2020). One factor supporting the success of co-produced science is the frequent opportunities for researchers and non-academics to engage regularly (Norström et al., 2020).
