Population is one of the most significant elements in geographical studies because it plays a vitalroleinshapingthesocio-economicandenvironmentalstructureofanyregion.Thespatial distribution, growth, density, composition, and dynamics of population influence patterns of settlement, resource use, economic activities, and regional development. Therefore, a geographical study of population helps in understanding the relationship between human beings and their physical as well as socio-economic environment. In recent decades, rapid populationgrowth, migration, urbanization, anddemographictransitionhaveemergedasmajor concerns for both developed and developing countries, including India. These changes have led to increasing pressure on land, water, housing, infrastructure, and employment opportunities. The study of population from a geographical perspective focuses not only on numerical changesbutalsoonspatialvariationsandregionaldisparities.Itexaminesvariousdemographic indicatorssuchasbirthrate, deathrate, fertility, mortality, literacy, sexratio, agestructure, and occupationalcomposition. These factorsprovide insight intothelevelofdevelopment, quality oflife, andavailabilityofresourcesinaregion.InIndia, populationcharacteristicsvarywidely across regions due to differences in physical conditions, economic development, cultural practices, andsocialstructure.Suchvariations highlightthe importanceofmicro-levelstudies for effective planning and policy formulation. Furthermore, the growing imbalance between population and resources has resulted in problems such as unemployment, poverty, environmental degradation, and unequal regional development. A geographical analysis of population helps identify these challenges and suggests suitable strategies for sustainable development. It also supports decision-making related to health, education, infrastructure, and regional planning. In this context, the present research aims to examine the spatial and temporal patterns of populationandtheirsocio-economicimplicationsintheselectedstudyarea.Thestudyattempts to analyze population growth, distribution, density, structure, literacy, sex ratio, and occupational characteristics. It also seeks to understand the relationship between population dynamics and regional development. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to effective planning, balanced regional development, and improved quality of life for the population The geographical study of population is a significant aspect of population studies at a given timeofanyregion.Thestudiesofpopulationincludedemographic, social, economic, cultural characteristics such as number of populations, density of population, age structure, sex ratio, race, marital status, religion, languages, literacy and education level, household and family size, employment status, occupationand income. These factorsplaya vitalrole inshaping not onlydemographicprofile but alsotrendineconomicdevelopment,socio-culturalandpolitical characteristics of a any region. Thus, the understanding of population pattern of a any region playimportantroletomakeregionaldevelopmentofthatregionthroughpopulationplannings.
