ABSTRACT In elderly patients, a smooth concentric esophageal stricture with normal mucosa should raise suspicion of extraesophageal causes, prompting cross‐sectional imaging such as computed tomography. Dysphagia may rarely be the initial symptom of lung cancer, and esophageal stenting offers rapid, effective palliation, restoring oral intake, and improving quality of life.
