In recent years, concerns over global warming and resource depletion have led to calls for improved thermal efficiency in internal combustion engines. To achieve higher efficiency, research has been conducted to solve the problems of combustion technology by improving fuel properties, and it has been reported that blending alcohol-based fuels can improve efficiency. In this study, ethanol and methanol were added to investigate the underlying mechanisms contributing to higher efficiency, and the effects on combustion characteristics such as laminar combustion, turbulent combustion and flame extinction characteristics were investigated.
