The benzoxazine and copper combination demonstrated a unique reactivity, which could activate the C-O bond of benzylic alcohols or benzyl ether at mild temperature and natural conditions. This novel reactivity leads to the product of benzylic ethers with water as the byproduct. Mechanistic investigation showed evidence to support that the reaction undergoes a radical pathway.
