Abstract

An understanding of Mars’ internal structure is the bedrock upon which future exploration of the planet is being planned. Data from NASA’s InSight mission has constrained the size of Mars’ core, enabled identification of primordial remnants within its mantle, and measured the surface meteoroid impact rate. In this Comment we will summarise both open and recently-resolved questions about Mars’ geophysics, past and present.
