Allen Archaeology Limited was commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey using magnetometry on land off Station Road, Thornton Curtis, North Lincolnshire, prior to the submission of a planning application for the erection of residential development. The survey has identified a number of features of potential archaeological interest. Within Area A there was a large amount of magnetic noise, as well as several obstructions, making interpretation difficult, and potentially masking archaeological activity. Within Area B there is still a fair amount of magnetic noise, especially within the southern half, however with the larger survey area it has been much easier to identify features of potential archaeological interest. There are a number of other linear features apparent that may relate to cultivation trends, recent field boundaries and services.
