Recently, the print media in Thailand has given considerable attention to the cases of development-oriented and conservationist monks. One of these, Phra Prajak Khuttajitto, gained national attention by taking a stand against the civil and military bureaucracy and related capitalist interests in a nationwide plan to resettle Thailand's frontier villagers. This plan was called the Land Redistribution Project for the Poor in Degraded Forest Areas, known in Thai under its abbreviated form as the Khor jor Kor.
