The American Psychiatric Association (APA) announced that Mark Rapaport, M.D. , began his one‐year term as APA president at the close of its 2026 Annual Meeting in San Francisco last week. Rapaport is the founding CEO emeritus of the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah Health and an adjunct professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at Stanford University, according to an APA news release. He has authored more than 200 peer‐reviewed publications and has maintained continuous research funding since 1992, with a focus on brain‐immune system interactions, clinical psychopharmacology and complementary medicine. Rapaport has also mentored hundreds of trainees through the New Investigator Program he established for the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology annual meeting.
