Abstract

Organic transistors and circuitry with micrometer-scale critical dimensions generated with high-resolution and at low cost is the aim of the research described here. Microcontact printing is used to pattern source and drain electrodes and the appropriate interconnections at 1 μm resolution. The remaining components are then patterned on top of these electrodes using low-resolution techniques. This new strategy has many of the characteristics necessary for rapid, reel-to-reel processing, which is important for the cost-effective exploitation of organic molecules in microelectronics.
