This study examines the skills gap of building construction professionals employed by multinational building construction firms in Lagos State, Nigeria, with a view to providing information that will enhance the quality of workmanship in the sector. Relevant data were obtained through 155 copies of a questionnaire on various categories of professionals/expatriates, out of which 151 copies were duly filled in and returned, representing a 97.4% return rate. The results of Borich Needs Analysis conducted reveal that the respondents were found to have been deficient in twelve thematic areas out of thirteen areas examined. These include ability to visualize into the future and plan appropriately in view of environmental challenges, ability to adapt with changing conditions in the sector, and ability to direct and control the efforts of the workforce. The study concludes by recommending that the federal government should develop a regulatory framework enabling an unhindered relationship between institutions of higher learning offering building-related programmes and activities in the building construction sector.
